Monday

Millwood City Council – The council discussed the parking problem near the West Valley construction area and changes to the land-use ordinance. They also discussed putting an opticom on the light post across from the fire station to make it easier for the trucks to get onto Argonne Road. (Source: Town Clerk, Eva Colomb)

Valley Fire – Commissioners had a second reading of a policy, the 418 pension plan, that states that the department must pay for retired firefighters’ Medicare premiums. They also discussed their upcoming retreat at Station 8 where they will talk about budget planning for 2007. (Source: Commissioner Joe Dawson)

Wednesday

Edgecliff SCOPE – More than 20 people came to discuss the re-entry of offender families into the neighborhood. The meeting also covered planning of the “Walk for Success” crime prevention walk, which will take place Sept. 30. This year’s theme will be domestic violence prevention. Plans were also made for SCOPE’s Dump Day, in which folks in the neighborhood can get a free pass to a local dump. The program is funded through a federal grant.
