Sandy Mooney takes month at Liberty Lake

Liberty Lake 18s

During results from Aug. 1, Sandy Mooney won monthly Liberty Cup competition with an overall net 30.

Putting competition winners were Kathy Brown with 30 in A flight. She beat Mooney, who had one fewer putt, while three others were tied at 32.

In B flight, Honey Conlon took first with 31 by two strokes over Reiko Takamori and Elsa Metting. Noreen Sale also had 31 putts to win C flight, with Penny Wasser second at 32.

Maggie Steffy and Sue Meyer tied in D flight with 31 putts apiece.

Last Tuesday was member-guest day best-ball competition. Five teams tied with 67. Ties were broken by using the back nine low net.

Jean Hatcher and Betty Harmon finished first, Marie Nelson and Barb Midkiff were second, Sue Meyer and Sue Crosby were third. Dorothy Womach and Fran Nord finished fourth with Steffy and Leslie Zihker placing fifth.

Liberty Lake 9s

Flight medal play winners for Aug. 3 and 10 included a pair of double dippers.

Karen Strauss, won first flight by shooting low gross scores of 45 and 46. Ethel Rankin, in third flight, shot 62 and 57.

Second flight low-gross victors were Sadie Rueckert and Mary Ann Wilharm with 57s one week and Wilharm with 53 the next. Freda Bergt was the lone no-handicap victor.

Net leaders included Janis Smith with 38, and Arla Beck with 36 in first flight. Mary Ann Barham with 36, and Frances Martin with 35 topped second flight. Linda Barry with 38, and Lee King with 36 won third.

During the two weeks of play, Arla Beck had the lone chip-in on the 14th hole.

Putts and net combined

MeadowWood Women’s 18-Hole Golf Club combined net scores and putts taken to determine Aug. 8 winners.

Sandy McLaughlin totaled 97 to win by five points.

Other placers were Sue Stone with 102, Jean Hatcher with 104 and Andine Suddeth with 105.

Three players, Patsy Lynn, Jan Doege and Erika Plosa had 107. Maggie Steffy finished at 108 and four players finished with 109.

Painted Hills League

Jeanne Allemand continued to dominate weekly Painted Hills Ladies League during last week’s efforts.

She shot low gross 41 while Kim Tucker netted 37 in A flight.

Second-flight winners were Carol Frost with 53 and June Hathaway with net 37 that included a birdie on the third hole.

Emma Long and Bev Younglund won C flight with 56 gross and 34 net scores respectively. Joan Koch shot 61, and Pat Reiter netted 33 in D flight.

Eleanor Badinger and Kathy Perry had chip-ins on Nos. 7 and 6 respectively.

Trailhead Golf Club

The Ladies Club conducted medal play on Aug. 2 with Carolyn State shooting 49 in A flight for the day’s best score.

Sharron Collins had 51 to win B flight, Joy Russell finished at 57 in C and Linda Michielli shot 62 for no-handicap.

There was a tie for low A flight net at 32 between Harriet Carbon and Sammie Fletcher. Iness Walth had low net 30 in B, and Penny Jones had 26 in C.

Eileen Couper had a chip-in.
