Cubs 1, Astros 0: At Houston, emergency starter Ryan O’Malley pitched eight impressive innings in his major league debut to help Chicago complete a three-game sweep of the slumping Astros.

Brewers 5, Pirates 2 (13): At Pittsburgh, David Bell’s bases-loaded single, his fourth hit of the game, drove in two runs in a three-run 13th inning and Milwaukee rallied to beat the Pirates.

Marlins 15, Dodgers 4: At Los Angeles, Miguel Cabrera hit two homers and drove in five runs and Florida beat Los Angeles.

Phillies 3, Mets 0: At Philadelphia, Jon Lieber pitched his first shutout in more than five years and the Phillies won their third straight over New York.

Nationals 9, Braves 6: At Washington, Ryan Zimmerman homered and singled to raise his rookie-leading RBI total to 78, and the Nationals beat Atlanta.

Reds 7, Cardinals 2: At St. Louis, Bronson Arroyo ended a 10-start winless slump, leading Cincinnati over the Cardinals.

Diamondbacks 9, Rockies 5: At Denver, Livan Hernandez pitched into the seventh and Arizona defeated Colorado.

Giants 7, Padres 5 (13): At San Diego, Eliezer Alfonzo singled in Ray Durham with the go-ahead run with two outs in the 13th inning and San Francisco beat the slumping Padres.
