Crash of helicopter kills pilot
NEWPORT, Wash. – A helicopter crashed Friday afternoon in the remote northeastern corner of Washington state, killing the pilot, the State Patrol said.
The pilot was the only person on board, said Andee Curran, a duty officer at the Federal Aviation Administration regional office in the Seattle suburb of Renton.
That helicopter was registered to an Ovando, Mont., man.
The crash occurred near Sullivan Lake, close to the Idaho border, a Pend Oreille County Sheriff’s Office dispatcher said. Deputies were just arriving on scene and had few details, she said Friday evening. The victim was not immediately identified.
