Yankees 12-14, Red Sox 4-11: At Boston, Derek Jeter hit a three-run double in New York’s seven-run seventh inning as the Yankees rallied from a three-run deficit to beat Boston and complete a sweep of a day-night doubleheader. Johnny Damon hit a two-run homer and had four RBIs as New York won the opener.
Royals 7-5, Athletics 1-3: At Kansas City, Mo., Mike Sweeney hit a go-ahead, two-run double in a four-run eighth inning, and Kansas City beat Oakland to complete a doubleheader sweep. The Royals won the opener as Luke Hudson stymied the A’s for seven innings.
Devil Rays 6, Indians 5: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Carl Crawford hit a two-run single that capped a three-run ninth and lifted Tampa Bay over Cleveland.
Rangers 2, Tigers 1: At Detroit, Kevin Millwood pitched seven strong innings and Mark Teixeira hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth to lift Texas over Detroit.
Orioles 7, Blue Jays 2: At Baltimore, Kris Benson won for the first time since June 28 and Melvin Mora went 3 for 4 and had four RBIs as Baltimore beat Toronto.
Twins 7, White Sox 3: At Minneapolis, Torii Hunter homered for the first time since July 31 and Minnesota’s bullpen limited Chicago to one hit over 3 2/3 scoreless innings in a victory over Chicago.
