Schools preparing for students

As the end of summer vacation gets closer, Spokane Valley schools are preparing for new and returning students.

Central Valley

Students return to school Sept. 7.

Beginning Tuesday, elementary and middle school offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for registration. Students new to the district need to register at their “home” school, with the exception of University Elementary kindergarteners who will register at, and attend, Ponderosa Elementary this year.

Kindergarten students from Greenacres and Liberty Lake elementary schools need to register at the new Central Valley Kindergarten Center at 1512 N. Barker Road.

Kindergarten students must be 5 on or before Aug. 31. First-graders must be 6 on or before Aug. 31 unless they have previously attended a public or accredited private kindergarten.

Parents need to bring current immunization records; a state-certified birth certificate (official document, not souvenir certificate from a hospital); and proof of residence – address verified by a copy of a current utility bill.

Registration isn’t complete until all immunizations are complete and space can’t be held for students with incomplete immunizations.
