Fairfield City Council – A public hearing was held to examine increasing the sewer rates and possibly imposing a utility tax. Council members voted to raise the sewer rates but made no decision on the tax. Several residents attended to complain about various nuisances. (Source: Town clerk Sue Adams)

Fire District 8 – During a special meeting Tuesday the commissioners interviewed candidates for the open commissioner position created by the retirement of Ken Kessler. They selected Jonathan Ferraiuolo, who was sworn in during a separate special meeting on Thursday. During the regular meeting Wednesday, commissioners heard from a Ponderosa resident who had concerns about the proposed Ponderosa PUD. Several residents from the Mica area spoke about fire danger issues at the Mica shooting range, where a recent brush fire was started by an incendiary round or tracer round. The range has been told to cease operations pending review of the issue. (Source: Deputy chief Dan Blystone)

Rockford City Council – Council members discussed procedures for developments. Spokane Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich spoke and asked for feedback regarding the work done by the Sheriff’s Office in Rockford. (Source: Town clerk)
