When finding your REALTOR®: Look for the ‘®’
If you are looking for a REALTOR® to help you either find a home to purchase or sell the home you have, you can find one of these experts who can help you fulfill your objectives.
A REALTOR® can save you time as he or she can help you through the process of either buying or selling. Selecting the right person is no different than selecting any professional to help you through the many steps that end in a successful sale or purchase.
To find one of these guides to help you through the various steps, ask for a recommendation from people you know who have purchased or sold a home recently. People will either recommend or not — that can help you make a very good selection.
Follow up with that recommendation and call that REALTOR® and get acquainted. How long have they been in real estate sales? Do you get along with the person? What is their sales record? These are a few questions that will generally indicate whether you have a dynamite sales person. Referrals from a friend can go a long way toward turning you in the right direction.
The most important factors in hiring an agent are that you and the agent get along well and work well together. Most sales go well between buyer and seller. Some may not. That’s why it is a good thing to have an expert in your corner if there is a problem to be solved.
Check the real estate section of The Spokesman-Review, and there are some publications that are free for the taking at grocery stores all around the city. If you find someone of interest, give them a call.
Another possibility is to tour the neighborhood in which you would like to live and check the “FOR SALE” signs for the names of the REALTORS®. Some specialize in certain areas around the city and have extensive knowledge about the area you like. These REALTORS® generally have answers to questions you already have. They would know that “special area.”
Regardless of the REALTOR® you choose, it is a very good idea to work with a “guide” through the process. They can save you time by selecting the type of home you will end up purchasing.
And look for that special REALTOR® “R” on his or her lapel. It tells you that they subscribe to a Code of Ethics — a very good thing. Actually, a REALTOR® is a bargain. They do not get paid unless there is a sale.
