Auction to benefit Paulsen House

The Friends of Paulsen House are holding an art auction Sept. 9 to raise funds for the preservation and maintenance of the house, the administrative center of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane.

Works by several artists, including Tom Wakeley and Dianne Munkittrick, will be featured. There also will be a silent auction with artwork from high school students, along with a no-host wine bar and gourmet hors d’oeuvres.

The auction is at 6 p.m. in the great hall of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave. Tickets are $35.

Outdoor concerts

Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., is presenting an outdoor concert Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The concert will feature performances by the Hillyard Belles, Bonnie’s Line Dancers from Project Joy, and Just Friends of Project Joy.

The free concert will include pie and beverages during intermission. Audience members should bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.

•The final installment of the Prince of Peace Summer Concert Series will feature the Don Emerson Trio, Wednesday at 7 p.m. on the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church grounds, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road.

The intermission will include a presentation of Prince of Peace fall programs.

Audience members should bring their own chairs, blankets and snacks.

Movie night

Hillyard Baptist Church, 2121 E. Wabash Ave., is presenting a community barbecue and outdoor movie night today at 6 p.m.

The event will include free hot dogs and hamburgers, and the movie is “Monsters, Inc.”

Family festival

Mt. Spokane Church, 6311 E. Mount Spokane Park Drive, Mead, is presenting “A Country-a-Fair…Carnival of Treasures” Saturday at 1 p.m.

The day will feature games, a dunk tank, food, a car show and a motorcycle exhibit by the Christ Riders.

The day will wrap up with a concert at 7 p.m.

The cost of admission is $5 a person, $15 for a family of four people over the age of 4, or $20 for a family of five or more.
