Care mobile coming to EVMS
The Spokane Ronald McDonald Care Mobile will be at East Valley Middle School, 4920 N. Progress Road from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday.
The care mobile is a clinic on wheels. It reaches out to children from infants to age 21, where they live and go to school.
The following services are available to children and youth at no cost to the family, no insurance is needed and no income criteria: well-child exams and immunizations (up to age 19); sports and camp physicals; treatment of minor illnesses and injuries; vision screenings and hearing exams; nutrition and health education; asthma and diabetes treatment and education; referral to doctors, dentists and clinics.
The clinic is staffed by a family nurse practitioner and support personnel working through the Washington State University Intercollegiate College of Nursing. The services are funded by donations and grants.
Parents and guardians must complete an intake/consent form that can be downloaded at www.evsd.org or www.spokanecaremobile.org.

Elections
Meet Democratic candidates
Valley voters will have a chance to meet several Democratic primary candidates Sunday.
From 3 to 5 p.m., political organizer Sally Jackson will host a group of candidates for county positions at her house, 11722 E. Sixth Ave.
County Commission candidates George Orr, Bonnie Mager and Barb Chamberlain will be there, as will Judy Personett, who is running for assessor.
Education
Tour remodeled West Valley High
An open house and community tour are planned at the newly remodeled West Valley High School from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 5.
In 2004, West Valley voters approved a $35 million construction bond for the two-year renovation of the high school and to remodel four district elementary schools.
The construction project is more than halfway finished and on budget. The building will be open and ready when students return to school Sept. 6. The entire project should be finished by fall 2007.
