Governor meets S. Korean officials

Idaho Gov. Jim Risch welcomed the governor of the Chungcheongbuk-do province of South Korea to Boise on Tuesday to mark the 20th year that Idaho and the Korean province have had a “sister state” relationship.

“We do enjoy a great trade relationship with South Korea,” Risch said.

Provincial Gov. Chung Woo-Taik was accompanied by a delegation, including Assembly Speaker Oh Jang-Se and Consul General Kwon Chanho, from the Korean consulate in Seattle. The delegation met with Risch and state Commerce Director Roger Madsen to discuss trade.

According to Brad Hoaglun, Risch’s communications director, the name of the Korean province is pronounced “chung-chung buck dough.”
