Intersection will close before, after school

Liberty Lake Elementary officials and the Liberty Lake Police department have come up with a solution to traffic problems at the Boone Avenue and Molter Road intersection in Liberty Lake.

Over the past few years, parents have snarled traffic when parking on the right side of Molter Road while waiting to enter the student drop-off and pickup area in front of the school on Boone.

When school resumes next Thursday, the intersection will be closed for about a half-hour before and after school each day.

Signs will direct drivers going south on Molter to continue past the school and to take a left turn on Country Vista Drive and then another left on Boone.

Parents will turn into the parent valet area to pick up or drop-off children and exit eastbound on Boone. They can then follow the same route along Country Vista back to Molter.

By taking this 1.3 mile loop through the MeadowWood development, school-related traffic should be improved.

Information will be sent to Liberty Lake Elementary parents, and school staff will help them navigate the drop-off/pickup system.

Liberty Lake SCOPE volunteers will help direct traffic and Liberty Lake Police will monitor the intersection closure for the first few weeks in September.
