Get out, get going

Let it snow…

One of the most important things to do this weekend isn't on any schedule or calendar. There's snow on the ground, so it's time to go sledding. The hill in Valley Mission Park is the popular place to go in the Valley, but good sledding can be had anywhere there's a moderately steep slope with plenty of white stuff. So bundle up, head out and have a grand old time.

Ho, ho, ho, ho

Gather up the small ones and bring them to Central Valley High School this morning for breakfast with Santa. The meal will be served from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the school, 821 S. Sullivan Road. In addition to a few pancakes, there are games, face painting and, of course, a visit with the red-robed one on the menu. Santa is expected to arrive about 9 a.m. on a fire truck (emergencies permitting).

Admission is $3.50. The event is hosted by the Spokane Valley Rotary Club.

Shopping around the Christmas tree

The small town of Rockford will be the site of a Christmas Bazaar today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rockford United Methodist Church, 211 S. First. Lunch items will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5, so you don't have to shop hungry. Admission is free, so head down and check it out. Just watch out for ice on the roads.
