Man arrested after body found in trunk

SEATTLE – A 56-year-old man has been arrested after a dead woman was found in the trunk of a car that reportedly had been parked for months near a north end park, police reported.

The cause of death was unknown pending an autopsy, and investigators were not immediately able to determine how long the silver Mercury Cougar had been parked near Carkeek Park, Officer Jeffery R. Kappel said.

Officers found the body Sunday while responding to a report of an abandoned car. Police said the man turned himself in to police at the North Precinct late Sunday or early Monday and was booked into the King County Jail.

Brad Warren, who lives on the street where the car was parked, said it had not been moved for several months.
