Hearing set for 134-acre annexation
The Spokane City Council on Monday set a hearing for Jan. 2 to consider annexation of 134 acres of prime commercial property on the west side of Division Street north of Francis Avenue.
The annexation is being supported by major property owners but is opposed by a group of residents living in the largely commercial area.
The hearing will be held to consider a resolution declaring the city’s intent to annex the property, as required by state law.
In other business, the council approved a multifamily housing property-tax exemption for a six-unit project at 430 W. Second Ave. by EBJ Holdings LLC of Spokane.
The council approved vacating 7 feet of Riverside Avenue from 50 feet east of Napa Street to Crestline Street and the west 12 feet of Crestline from Riverside to the alley south of Riverside, as requested by Mike Van Dinter.
Also, the council approved assessment segregation for paving, curbing and sidewalks on Rebecca Street from 30th to 37th avenues in Lincoln Heights.
The council approved a real estate purchase of property at 3026 W. Seventh Ave. for $40,000 as part of a project on Government Way.
A real estate sale was approved for surplus city property at 4813 W. Grandview Ave. to Milo Manufacturing Inc. for $172,500.
