Scam Baiting (n.)

When you open e-mail from a guy in Nigeria who wants your help getting millions out of that country into your bank account, scam baiting is one of your options.

It involves feigning interest and generating additional e-mails containing more details.

The point is to waste the other person’s time and discourage the spammer. Usually it doesn’t do that. But it can be entertaining for a while.
