Flyers’ record slide reaches nine straight
Ottawa’s Daniel Alfredsson scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 8 minutes, 25 seconds left, and the Senators defeated Philadelphia 6-3 in Philadelphia to extend the Flyers’ franchise-record losing streak to nine games.
Joseph Corvo, Chris Phillips, Denis Hamel and Peter Schaefer also scored for the Senators, who had dropped two straight and six of their previous eight games.
The Flyers set a franchise record by losing their sixth straight home game. Philadelphia had dropped five straight in 1969 and 1990.
Coyotes 2, Ducks 0: At Glendale, Ariz., Shane Doan and Keith Ballard scored 13 seconds apart late in the third period to lead Phoenix to a victory over Anaheim, snapping the Coyotes’ eight-game losing streak against the Ducks.
Michael Tellqvist made 29 saves for his third career shutout.
Avalanche 3, Blackhawks 2: At Denver, Wojtek Wolski scored two goals and Jose Theodore stopped 17 shots to lead Colorado past Chicago.
Joe Sakic added a goal and an assist for Colorado, winner of five of six overall and four straight at home.
Thrashers 5, Devils 2: At Atlanta, Shane Hnidy scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Slava Kozlov padded the lead midway through the third as the Thrashers breezed past New Jersey.
Atlanta has won three straight overall and three in a row over the Devils, including two victories in five days.
Bruins 4, Canadiens 2: At Boston, Milan Jurcina and Stanislav Chistov scored 1:11 apart early in the third period to lift the Bruins over Montreal, ending the Canadiens’ five-game winning streak.
Marco Sturm had a power-play goal for Boston, and Zdeno Chara had the other score to help the Bruins win their third straight.
Islanders 4, Blue Jackets 0: At Uniondale, N.Y., Rick DiPietro stopped 26 shots for his third shutout this season and New York notched its first win over Columbus.
New York was 0-5-2 in seven previous games against the Blue Jackets.
Lightning 4, Rangers 3: At Tampa, Fla., Dan Boyle had three goals and an assist during a four-goal third period, rallying Tampa Bay to a victory over New York.
The Rangers have lost a season-high five straight.
Capitals 3, Maple Leafs 2: At Toronto, Alexander Ovechkin scored his 24th goal, Olaf Kolzig made 35 saves and Washington held on for a victory over the Maple Leafs.
Mats Sundin scored twice in the third period to rally Toronto. He scored on a penalty shot at 3:16 of third and again just 14 seconds later.
Hurricanes 3, Panthers 2 (OT): At Sunrise, Fla., Erik Cole scored 1:59 into overtime and Carolina beat Florida for its fourth straight win.
Former Spokane Chief Ray Whitney and Justin Williams also scored for the Hurricanes.
Wild 3, Red Wings 2 (OT): At St. Paul, Minn., Pierre-Marc Bouchard beat Chris Osgood on a breakaway in overtime to give Minnesota a comeback victory over Detroit.
Stars 3, Oilers 2: At Dallas, Jon Klemm had a goal and an assist for his first two points of the season, Marty Turco stopped 20 shots and the Stars beat Edmonton.
Predators 7, Kings 0: At Nashville, Tenn., Jason Arnott, J.P Dumont and David Legwand each scored twice and Chris Mason had 34 saves to lead Nashville over Los Angeles.
Blues 3, Sabres 2 (OT): At St. Louis, Bill Guerin scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Blues over Buffalo.
Sharks 3, Flames 1: At San Jose, Calif., Mark Smith had a goal and an assist to lead San Jose to a victory over Calgary.

Maple Leafs center Michael Peca broke his right leg Friday in a 3-1 loss at Chicago and is expected to miss at least three months, Toronto general manager John Ferguson said. … The Columbus Blue Jackets added goaltender Ty Conklin to the roster on an emergency recall from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse, N.Y. Conklin will fill in for goaltender Pascal Leclaire, who suffered a hamstring injury Friday night during the Blue Jackets’ 3-2 victory over Vancouver. Conklin will back up starter Fredrik Norrena.
