George Washington prevails
Kimberly Beck scored 18 points to help No. 17 George Washington upset No. 11 Georgia 66-54 in the first round of the Surf ‘N Slam Classic Thursday night at San Diego.
George Washington (10-2) won its third straight by going on a 12-1 run in the second half against the sloppy Bulldogs (11-2). The Colonials scored 23 points off 24 Georgia turnovers.
Sarah-Jo Lawrence scored 12 points and Kenan Cole 11 for George Washington.
Georgia’s Tasha Humphrey had 16 points and eight rebounds before fouling out with 4:05 left. Angel Robinson added 15 points and six rebounds for the Bulldogs.
