Diamond Dipper may come to end

Rogers and Cheney High Schools will compete in boys and girls basketball spirit games beginning at 3:45 p.m. Friday at Cheney High School, 460 N. Sixth Ave., Cheney.

Judges vote for the winner based on sportsmanship, theme and color, and on spirit and audible intensity.

This may be the last Diamond Dipper game between the two schools since Cheney is possibly going to 2A bracket next year.

Rogers is undefeated in the spirit competition that began in 2004. Last year Cheney won both the boys and girls basketball games.

Holmes’ community room

Holmes Elementary School, 2600 W. Sharp Ave., has a new community room, with leather furniture donated by The Tin Roof.

The community room is available to all Holmes parents, guardians and community volunteers as a place for volunteers to mentor students, for parents to meet other parents, and for community members to use a computer, watch videos, do crafts or just hang out.
