Man shot in N. Spokane
A man was shot twice in the chest after an argument at a North Spokane apartment complex Saturday night.
The victim’s name and address were unavailable as of press time. He was taken by ambulance to a Spokane hospital, and his wounds appeared to be life-threatening, said Spokane police Sgt. Joe Walker.
The shooting occurred at the Rosewood Club Apartments, 401 E. Magnesium Road, at about 8:30 p.m.
No arrests have been made, but police spoke with at least one witness shortly after the incident and also searched the neighborhood with dogs for a man who was with the victim and may have been the shooter, Walker said.
The victim, described as a man his 20s, is suspected of trying to force his way into the apartment and is believed to have been shot with a handgun owned by the resident of the dwelling, Walker said. The gun was recovered, as was another air-powered pellet pistol at the crime scene. Police do not know who owned the pellet pistol.
After being shot, the man ran down two flights of stairs and collapsed on a sidewalk about 40 yards away.
Matthew Miller of Cheney was watching a movie in a nearby apartment when he heard five or six shots. Miller ran from his friend’s apartment and saw the man lying on the sidewalk, steam wafting out of a hole in his chest, he said.
“He was shouting, ‘Help me! Help me! I’m dying! I got shot!’ ” Miller said, minutes after the shooting.
