Redick breaks 3-point record in Duke win

J.J. Redick needed two 3-pointers to break the NCAA career record. For the top scorer in Division I, it wasn’t much of a challenge.

The Duke senior made those necessary shots and added two more on his way to 33 points, helping the second-ranked Blue Devils run away from Wake Forest 93-70 Tuesday night at Durham, N.C., to remain undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Demon Deacons lost their seventh conference game in a row. Justin Gray led Wake Forest with 18 points.

(3) Memphis 80, Southern Mississippi 41: At Memphis, Tenn., Rodney Carney scored 15 points to help the Tigers rout the Golden Eagles.

(6) Texas 90, Baylor 63: At Austin, Texas, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Longhorns coasted past the Bears.

Seton Hall 71, (11) West Virginia 64: At East Rutherford, N.J., Kelly Whitney had 21 points and 12 rebounds and the Pirates bounced back from a 42-point loss to top-ranked Connecticut with a victory over the Mountaineers.

(18) Iowa 66, (16) Michigan State 54: At Iowa City, Iowa, Greg Brunner scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Hawkeyes picked up their fifth straight win over a ranked opponent, beating the Spartans.

Women

(7) Rutgers 62, Villanova 56: At Piscataway, N.J., Matee Ajavon scored 14 points and Essence Carson added 13 to help the Scarlet Knights beat the Wildcats.
