Regal St. corridor organization to meet

The first general meeting of the Association for Sensible Transportation and Planning will be at 7 tonight at the Educational Service District 101 Conference Center, at Thurston and Regal.

ASTP, also known as “A-Stop,” is a membership organization with the objective of analyzing, evaluating and responding to transportation and land-use issues affecting the South Regal Street corridor in the city and county of Spokane (29th to 57th Avenue) and these issues’ influences and impacts on the southeast quadrant of the city.

•The East Central Neighborhood Council will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the East Central Community Center, Fifth and Stone.

•The Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Southside Senior Activity Center, 3151 E. 27th Ave.

•The Grandview-Thorpe Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Please e-mail grandviewthorpe@hotmail.com for location information.

•Spokane Mayor Dennis Hession will hold an open house for residents interested in the rehabilitation of Bernard Street from 14th to 29th avenues from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Downtown Library.

Information will be available about the Bernard Street rehabilitation project and other city policies related to this project. Opportunities for residents to improve the Bernard streetscape through a local improvement district also will be discussed.

•The Manito/Cannon Hill Neighborhood Council will meet at 7 p.m. next Thursday at Wilson Elementary School, 911 W. 25th Ave.
