Shadle turns tables on Mead

This time it was Shadle Park’s turn in its second meeting with Mead.

The Highlanders (5-3, 1-0) benefited from a hot start in their reversal-of-fortune 62-53 home victory in a Greater Spokane League boys basketball opener.

When the two teams met a little more than two weeks ago, the Panthers (2-5, 0-1) won by six points.

But Shadle jumped to a 21-11 first-quarter lead and went on a 12-0 run in the second half to seal the triumph.

Josh Landsverk and Zack Humphrey combined for 38 points, Landsverk scoring 22 against the Panthers for the second time.

Lucas Ashe led Mead with a game-high 25.

North Central 64, G-Prep 46

The Indians (8-1, 1-0) were relentless at home against the Bullpups (5-3, 0-1). Four players finished in double figures, including Nathan Hood, who had a career-high 16 points.

The Bullpups had only one double-figures scorer and Michael Johnson, who was averaging 17.2 coming in, was held to five points.

West Valley 59, Mt. Spokane 31

The Eagles (7-1, 1-0) needed a 24-6 fourth-quarter scoring advantage to pull away from the host Wildcats (5-3, 0-1).

Tyler Hobbs led all scorers with 19 points and had two 3-point baskets. Greg Bradley hit three 3s.

Lewis and Clark 55, Cheney 48

The host Tigers (2-6, 1-0) used a 32-16 first-half advantage to post their second win of the year at the Blackhawks’ (2-6, 0-1) expense.

T.J. Lee-Hill (17 points) and Andre Jennings (15) led LC, which made all nine of its fourth-quarter points from the free-throw line.

University 61, Rogers 56

Clint Moquist had his best night of the year, making 6 of 7 field-goal attempts, scoring 14 points and hauling down eight rebounds for the victorious Titans (4-5, 1-0).

U-Hi’s Olson brothers, Tyler and Kyle, combined for 31 points, Tyler with 18.

Ferris 91, East Valley 42

Two minutes into the second quarter the unbeaten Saxons (8-0, 1-0) had doubled the score on the visiting Knights (3-5, 0-1). The game never got closer.

Seven Ferris players were at or approached double figures, led by the hot hand of Jon Clift who equaled his career high of 27 points.

The Saxons bench players contributed 28 more.

Central Valley 69, Clarkston 32

Ten Bears scored, led by Nick Ambrose’s 14 in the easy win by CV (7-1, 1-0) at home against the Bantams (1-6, 0-1).

Ambrose also had eight rebounds. Luke Clift had eight assists and five steals.
