Dawdling man held after bank robbery try

From staff reports

A man who couldn’t quite pull off a bank robbery Saturday was arrested by Spokane Valley Police.

Bank tellers at Global Credit Union inside Tidyman’s at Sprague and Macdonald said the man was wandering around the teller windows “making faces and acting nervous,” when he flashed a sign at them that read “give me your money,” police said.

He then asked about traveler’s checks and walked outside, giving the employees time to call police.

Officers drove a half-block from the police station and arrested Thomas S. Brown, 43, outside the store without incident. He was unarmed and never took money, police said.

Tellers at the credit union said the man appeared undecided about following through on the robbery, police said.

Brown was booked on a felony count of first-degree robbery.
