The three words that best describe this handsome dog are gentle, gentle, gentle. He takes the treat from your hand very delicately and walks close enough to your leg to almost never pull on the leash.

Buddy has been at the shelter since July and has most likely been overlooked because he seems shy in his kennel. His assessment card says he is good with kids and other dogs but might not like hanging around with cats. Buddy pays close attention to passing pickup trucks and perks up when he sees one. You get the feeling that a truck ride would be the highlight of his day.

If you are looking for a calm but loving dog, come and meet Buddy. He is waiting for you at the Humane Society of Spokane, 6607 N. Havana St. The telephone number is 467-5235. Buddy’s shelter number is SPHS042609A, and his adoption fee is $80 or $84, depending on where you live, and includes vaccinations, neuter and license.

The Humane Society is open seven days a week.
