Woman booked on theft, drug charges after traffic stop

The Spokesman-Review

A Spokane Valley woman faces theft and drug charges after a Monday traffic stop on Bigelow Gulch Road.

Joelene Jean Freeman, 21, was stopped on suspicion of speeding and failing to signal turns. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said Freeman didn’t have a driver’s license. A subsequent search of her vehicle found morphine for which Freeman didn’t have a prescription, and several identification and charge cards belonging to three different men.

According to deputies, when asked about the cards, Freeman said the cards belonged to old boyfriends and she was holding onto them as keepsakes.

Deputies booked Freeman into jail on charges of illegal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of stolen property. She also was cited for traffic violations.
