Outdoors shows cranking up

The boat and sportsmen’s show season kicks into high gear this month, giving outdoor enthusiasts a chance to see the latest products from manufacturers.

While plenty of shows are still being scheduled to get sportsmen on track, it’s notable that there aren’t as many as there were a few years ago.

The Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area has only one big boat show nowadays, and Seattle doesn’t have any big sportsmen’s expositions, such as the one that used to be held at the Kingdome.

The Game Fish Show formerly sponsored by the Spokane Walleye Club at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center is defunct.

Following is a regional list of top upcoming shows.

“Washington Sportsmen’s Show, Jan. 25-29, Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup, sponsored by O’Loughlin Shows, (503) 246-8291.

“North Idaho Sportsmen’s Trophy Measuring Event, set for late February, Wildlife Building, North Idaho Fairgrounds, sponsored by Idaho Fish and Game Department, (208) 765-7223.

“Gun, Horn and Fur Show, Feb. 3-5, at Boundary County Fairgrounds at Bonners Ferry, sponsored by Kootenai Valley Sportsmens Association, (208) 267-2108.

“Big Horn Outdoor Adventure Show, March 16-19, Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, sponsored by Inland Northwest Wildlife Council, 487-8552.
