Safety forums to be held at high schools
The Spokane Police Department, Spokane Fire Department and Spokane Public Schools are now working together to teach the community about staying safe.
Through a series of forums, this new coalition known as the Community Safety Partnership will offer interactive sessions and displays on a number of issues such as identity theft, fire safety, gang identification and safe walking routes to school.
The first forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Shadle Park High School, 4327 N. Ash St.
The event will include demonstrations on installing child safety seats and the proper way to wear a bike helmet. Local firefighters and paramedics also will be there with their equipment. Law enforcement students, Explorer Scouts and Police Reserve officers will provide security in the parking lot.
The forums will continue through June and will take place on the first Wednesday of each month, rotating among the high schools in the Spokane school district.
