Fast-scoring Bears rout Shadle Park
Central Valley turned on the afterburners at Shadle Park and left the Highlanders in their exhaust.
The Bears (9-5, 5-2) went up-tempo all the way for a 70-48 win Tuesday. They led Shadle (8-6, 3-4) 20-4 after a quarter on Salena Leavitt’s 3-pointer with 9 seconds remaining.
The Bears led by as much as 32-10 midway through the second period, fueled by Sarah Gehring. She was back after a two-game absence because of a concussion.
Gehring, who had a season-high 19 points, and Heidi Heintz each scored six during the second-quarter blitz and finished with 37 between them.
Leavitt added 14, giving her a 16.5 average over the last four games. Tracy Goehri was opportunistic around the basket, adding 13.
Shadle’s Lexi Bishop scored all 16 of her points in the second half.

The Blackhawks (6-8, 2-5) got 16 points from Heather Burke. She got the team started with three 3-pointers in the first quarter in a win over the visiting Wildcats (7-7, 4-3). Katie Camp added 11, including 7 for 10 from the free-throw line.
Gonzaga Prep 56, East Valley 47
The Bullpups (12-2, 6-1) were facing the possibility of another loss to the Knights (5-9, 1-6), this time at home. They trailed by four points with 3 minutes left, but a 19-6 fourth quarter dispelled the notion. Sarah Jennings had four 3-pointers and 21 points while Tara Cronin (16 points, eight rebounds, four steals) provided valuable help.

The Titans (12-2, 76-0) continued to get balanced scoring. Three players finished in double figures, and three others – Courtney Rassier, Kara Crisp and Riki Schiermeister – were a bucket each away at NC (3-11, 1-6).
Lewis and Clark 81, Rogers 39
The host Pirates (2-12, 0-7) kept things close for a half. But the Tigers (14-0, 7-0) outscored them 40-14 over the final 16 minutes. Heather Bowman scored a season-high 28 points for the Tigers. Denisha Whitehead scored 19 for Rogers.
Mead 70, West Valley 39
The visiting Panthers (10-4, 5-2) parlayed 31 turnovers into victory over the Eagles (2-12, 1-6). Chelsea Mykines scored a season-high 17 points. Olivia Parvey equaled her best with 15.
Ferris 60, Clarkston 50
It was a turnover-filled game, but hot first-half shooting carried the Saxons (7-7, 4-3). Ferris shot 14 for 18 from the field in the opening two periods to take a 10-point lead over the visiting Bantams (7-7, 3-4). The home team improved its lead to 15 points after three quarters. But the weight of 28 turnovers enabled Clarkston (which had 20 of its own) to hang around. Elizabeth Bafus, who had scored in only five games this year, had a career-high 12 for Ferris.
