City OKs office use near SE Blvd.
The Spokane City Council on Monday unanimously approved a land-use change from residential to office use for five parcels in a 2.3-acre site adjacent to Southeast Boulevard.
The amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan had been recommended by the city Plan Commission in a 5-2 vote last November. The largely undeveloped site includes property at 2702 and 2730 E. 33rd Ave. and 2641 E. 34th Ave.
Owners were identified as Peter G. Freeman, Joseph L. Bozo and Mark McManus, all of the Spokane area.
Under state law, the city is required to open its comprehensive land-use plan to amendments once each year. Monday’s change was part of the annual amendment process.
In other business, the council also approved a resolution declaring seven properties as surplus, allowing the parcels to go up for sale to the public. The properties had been held by the city for utility use.
The surplus properties are a 3.3-acre parcel at Buckeye Avenue and Upriver Drive, a 10,000-square-foot parcel near 14th Avenue and F St., a 30,000-square-foot parcel at 14th Avenue and Milton Street, a 14-acre gravel pit property near East Broadway and Carnahan, an 8,000-square-foot property at 14th Avenue and Cochran Street, a 15,000-squre-foot parcel at 34th Avenue and Polk Road, and a 5,000-square-foot parcel at Fifth Avenue and E Street.
