Move over, cyclists

The Spokesman-Review

Rich Landers’ column regarding motorists is whining and complaining of their rudeness. Well, how about me complaining about the rude and obnoxious bicyclists? I’ve been given the one-fingered salute just because these cyclists think they have carte blanche to impede traffic by blocking two of three lanes of traffic.

Among countless other times, I’ve been on Upriver Drive where traffic is backed up 10 or more cars because some “peddler” on a bike doesn’t want to move over where he could have been riding on the Centennial Trail.

If you want the same rights as motorists, then it should be a law that you start paying licensing and tab fees every year on your form of transportation. Make it mandatory that cyclists have to take a written and driving test. There are many motorists that drive like maniacs, but there are just as many cyclists in the same category who ignore the rules of the road.
