Music, movies planned at S. Perry Street Fair

It’s free movie time in the parking lot at The Shop, with the South Perry Street Fair running today through Sunday.

Events start at 7 tonight at the South Perry Summer Theater (at The Shop), 924 S. Perry St. The band Harry and the Potters will perform, and at dusk there will be a showing of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (PG). It is recommended that viewers bring something to sit on.

On Friday, the band Milonga will play at 7 p.m., and the movie at dusk will be “Goonies” (PG).

Saturday’s 10 a.m. parade will include the Grant Elementary Drum and Dance Troupe. Grant Park will be filled with food vendors, craft vendors and a car show.

The 1942 classic “Casablanca” will be shown at dusk.

A nondenominational prayer service is scheduled for Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the gazebo in Grant Park.

Vendors open at 10. Ashe, an African drum and dance group, will perform at 2 p.m. The fair coincides with the Kindred Spirits Quilt Show next door to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, 1015 E. Ninth Ave. The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
