Theater group will perform ‘Dreamcoat’
The Christian Community Theater, a division of the Christian Youth Theater, is presenting “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” Wednesday through July 23 at Spokane Community College’s Lair auditorium.
The Christian Community Theater accepts performers of all ages.
Matinees will be at 3 p.m. July 22 and 23, and there will be performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday through July 22.
Admission is $10 for reserved seating.

Carillon concert
The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is presenting Charles Dairay of St. Amand-les-Eaux, France, today at 7 p.m.

Clean and sober seminar
The Unity Center, 4123 E. Lincoln Road, is presenting Dr. Howard Peiper, a nutritionist, Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Peiper will discuss nutritional choices on the road to recovery from alcohol abuse.

Sunny Sundays, a group for single women of all ages at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, is holding a picnic at Comstock Park, 29th Avenue and Howard, Sunday at 1 p.m.
The group is serving fried chicken, potato salad, fruit and ice cream

Janet Hauck of Whitworth College will speak at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 611 S. Garfield St., today at 6:30 p.m.
Hauck will discuss the history of the Japanese Methodist Mission, which started in 1902.

Buddhist temple open house
The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., is holding an open house Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event, in conjunction with the South Perry Summer Street Faire, will include a class, “An Introduction to Buddhism,” at 2 p.m. that will include information about the Jodo-Shinshu tradition, what to expect at services and some Buddhist history.

The congregation is now worshipping at 5915 S. Regal St. in Suite 302 of the Ben Burr Building.

Vacation Bible school
“ New Hope Christian Reform Church, 3110 W. Francis Ave., is presenting “Treasure Cove” Monday through July 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Kids in kindergarten through the sixth grade can go on a treasure hunt to find Jesus, listen to Bible stories, play games and participate in crafts and music.
The week will wrap up July 21 at 6 p.m. with a barbecue on the church lawn that will feature Caribbean music from Moko Jumbie.
