Youth commission seeks new teen, adult members
Officials are seeking adults and teens to fill seats on the Chase Youth Commission, a 15-member group that organizes events and advises politicians.
Five of the commission’s seven positions for teenagers are open. Of those, one teen must live in the city of Spokane. Three open seats are for youths living in Spokane County but outside the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley. One open seat is reserved for a teen living anywhere in the county except Spokane Valley.
Youth members serve one-year terms and must be 13 to 18 years old.
Three of the commission’s eight seats for adults also are open. Two of those positions are reserved for city of Spokane residents. One is for a county resident living outside the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley. Adults serve three-year terms.
Members of the commission are chosen by the Spokane City Council, Spokane County Commission or both.
More information about the application process is available by calling Joanne Benham, Spokane regional youth director, at 625-6440. Applications are due July 21.
