Tools believed missing reported stolen

The Spokesman-Review

A business owner recently reported that more than $7,500 worth of tools were taken from his shop in Spokane Valley.

Police say the owner of Pyrotek on east Montgomery reported that someone entered the business some time between June 30 and July 3 and took calipers, gauges and other measuring devices.

Whoever took the instruments didn’t use force to enter the building, Sgt. Dave Reagan said in a release. The owner told police he didn’t immediately report the missing items because he thought an employee may have borrowed them.

Officers are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the Spokane Valley Police at 242-TIPS.

Scrap copper taken from site

Looking to cash in on high scrap-copper prices that have prompted metal thefts across the county, thieves stole a large pile of scrap copper from a Spokane Valley construction site last weekend.

Crews found that more than 200 pounds of scrap copper disappeared from the site at 2610 N. Fancher Way, police said.

Nothing else at the site was disturbed, Sgt. Dave Reagan said in a release. Workers told police someone got in through an unlocked gate, he said.

If anyone has information on the theft, they are encouraged to call the Spokane Valley Police at 242-TIPS.

Traffic stop leads to drug arrest

Police arrested a 34-year old man driving down Sprague Avenue on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine after police pulled him over for driving with a suspended license.

An officer driving down Sprague checked the license plate number on a Chevy Corsica and found that Todd Grant Hesseltine, the car’s registered owner, has a suspended license, Reagan said.

According to a release from Sgt. Dave Reagan, Hesseltine was arrested near Sprague and Fancher about 7:20 p.m. Monday.

After arresting Hesseltine on that offense, a search of the car turned up what police believe was methamphetamine in a compact disk case, a glass pipe and another bag of meth in a zippered case.

Hesseltine was booked into the Spokane County jail on a felony count of possession of methamphetamine with charges on the license violation and possession of drug paraphernalia pending, Reagan said.

Man arrested on exposure charges near Centennial Trail

A 64-year-old man was arrested near the Centennial Trail Tuesday after he exposed himself to a passer-by and made a lewd comment, police said.

Donald H. Hodge of Otis Orchards was arrested Tuesday evening by Liberty Lake police at Gateway Park near Stateline, said Chief Brian Asmus. A caller told police that Hodge had approached him, made a lewd comment and exposed himself.

When officers arrived, Hodge was in his car, fondling himself, Asmus said. Hodge has a previous arrest for indecent exposure, he said.

Hodge was booked into the Spokane County Jail on indecent exposure charges.
