What’s next

The Group Health Exhibit Hall celebrates its grand opening today, but much remains to be done before Spokane’s Convention Center complex is complete.

“ Contractors already have begun work on a $10 million renovation of the existing Convention Center, scheduled for completion by summer of 2007. The remodeling will result in three new ballrooms totaling 25,000 square feet of space, 24 meeting rooms and lobby space. Simultaneously, renovations are under way at the INB Performing Arts Center, including expansion of the restrooms.

“ Also, the Spokane Public Facilities District is negotiating with two other property owners to purchase the city block south of the Convention Center for parking and future expansion. No timeline has been set for the conclusion of those negotiations.
