Shock snap Sparks’ 6-game winning streak
Swin Cash scored 18 points, Cheryl Ford added 13 points and 11 rebounds, and the Detroit Shock led by as many as 18 points in the first half to snap the Los Angeles Sparks’ six-game winning streak with a 73-59 home victory.
Detroit shot 52 percent in the first half while Los Angeles shot 33 percent.
Chamique Holdsclaw led the Sparks with 20 points and six rebounds. Muriel Page added 10 points and Lisa Leslie grabbed 11 rebounds.
Deanna Nolan had 13 points and six assists, and Katie Smith added 10 points and six assists for Detroit.
Mystics 80, Silver Stars 77: At San Antonio, Alana Beard scored 18 points and blocked a last-second 3-point attempt by Shanna Zolman that could have tied the game, preserving Washington’s victory over San Antonio.
Washington led by 14 points early in the fourth quarter before San Antonio rallied.
