Devil Rays 6, Angels 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Ty Wigginton homered and drove in four runs and Tampa Bay stopped Ervin Santana’s seven-game winning streak with a victory over Los Angeles.
Twins 4, White Sox 3: At Chicago, Johan Santana outpitched Jose Contreras, and Jason Bartlett hit a three-run homer as surging Minnesota pulled within a game of second-place Chicago.
Yankees 7, Rangers 4: At Arlington, Texas, Mike Mussina made it through a sporadic six innings for his 12th victory and Aaron Guiel homered in the second straight game as New York beat Texas. Mariano Rivera earned his 24th save in 26 chances for the Yankees.
Royals 7, Orioles 5: At Kansas City, Mo., Mark Teahen hit two homers and drove in a career-high five runs and Angel Berroa went 3 for 3 as the Royals rallied from a 4-0 deficit to beat Baltimore.
Red Sox 13, Athletics 5: At Oakland, Calif., Manny Ramirez homered for the second straight game – his 28th of the season – to help Curt Schilling earn his 13th win as Boston had a season-high 18 hits to hand the A’s a fifth straight loss at home.
