Back to work for NFC champions

The Spokesman-Review

The Seattle Seahawks get back to work today.

The defending NFC champion Seahawks hold their first full-squad practice of training camp at 8:45 a.m. at Eastern Washington University in Cheney. That’ll be followed by another practice at 2:45 p.m. The team will have two-a-day practices through Monday. After a Tuesday morning session at 8:45, there will be a special teams practice at 2.

Among the players who might miss practice or be limited early on as they recover from off-season surgeries are defensive end Grant Wistrom, defensive tackles Rocky Bernard and Marcus Tubbs, strong safety Michael Boulware and tight end Jerramy Stevens. Wide receiver Darrell Jackson, who had off-season knee surgery, will probably practice once per day.

The only unsigned draft pick is first-rounder Kelly Jennings, but team officials are optimistic they are close to an agreement. Jennings, a cornerback from Miami, is expected to compete for a starting position.

Seattle will hold training camp at EWU through next summer before relocating to a state-of-the-art, 20-acre facility on the Renton waterfront in 2008.

Single-game tickets for the 2006 season go on sale this morning at 10 a.m. Tickets are available at www.seahawks.com or through Ticketmaster by calling 1-888-NFL-Hawk. The team expects the remaining tickets to sell out within a matter of minutes.

The Seahawks have sold a franchise-record 61,000 season tickets.
