East SCOPE – Volunteers discussed upcoming events that they will be staffing, including the air show this weekend, National Night Out on Aug. 1 and the Interstate Fair. Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – Commissioners have sent 12 packets out to people interested in the fire chief position. The commissioners raised the salary range, which is attracting new interest. Interviews are expected to be held in August. (Source: Secretary Kathleen Small)

West Valley SCOPE – Volunteers voted to spend some of the money raised during West Valley Days on school supplies for students in the West Valley School District. They will also purchase a new refrigerator for the SCOPE station. The remainder of the money will be allocated at a later date. (Source: President June King)
