Swin Cash scored 20 points and Deanna Nolan hit the winning layup with 1.4 seconds left as the Detroit Shock edged the New York Liberty 64-63 Thursday at Auburn Hills, Mich.

Detroit’s Cheryl Ford added 13 points and 13 rebounds, including a third-try putback that left her sprawled with 25.6 seconds left. The preliminary diagnosis was a severely sprained left ankle.

That set the stage for Nolan, who was scoreless in the first half. On a designed play, she used Ruth Riley’s screen to get wide open for the final basket.

Sun 89, Sting 65: At Charlotte, N.C., Nykesha Sales scored 18 points and Margo Dydek had 16 points and tied a team record with 15 rebounds to lead Connecticut over Charlotte.
