The Spokesman-Review

Popular heavyweight Chauncy “Hillyard Hammer” Welliver and veteran Frank Wood have agreed in principle, pending Welliver’s scheduled match this weekend, to fight each other on the undercard of the Roy Jones Jr. fight against Prince Badi Ajamu on July 29 at the Qwest Arena in Boise.

The fight will be part of the pay-per-view event called “Hold Nothing Back!” The winner will claim the vacant WBC Continental Americas title.

Five-time world champion Jones Jr. is challenging North American Boxing Organization light heavyweight champion Ajamu in the main event.

Welliver, riding a 14-fight unbeaten streak that dates back to 2002, is matched Saturday night against Chad Van Sickle in Rochester, Wash., for the vacant Northwest Boxing Association heavyweight title.
