G-Prep lays path for ‘real’ world
As the Class of 2006, we are members of the generation referred to as “Generation Y.” Raised in a society influenced by reality TV, pop music, iPods, Internet access and the war on terror, we are the generation of unpredictability and experimentation. Yet despite these obstacles, as we prepare to leave high school, the support of the Gonzaga Prep community and our experiences at Prep will hopefully have provided us with the skills and knowledge necessary for future success.
My time at Gonzaga Prep has been filled with hectic days, laughter, stress, fun times and unforgettable memories. After experiencing four years of food drives, community service activities, passionate class debates and discussions, intense concert and play rehearsals, and exciting seasons of after-school sports, I know I could not ask for a better high school experience.
Consequently, the friendships and relationships I have developed at this school with fellow classmates, teachers and community members will remain with me forever. Though painful memories also have shaped my high school experience, including the death of classmates, friends, relatives, teachers and Jesuits, the spirit of Gonzaga Prep has also been clearly evident in the way this community has dealt with these tragedies together, comforting and praying with each other. Truly, these past four years have been extraordinary.
After four years at Gonzaga Prep, fellow classmates: We are free. We are free to enter the “real” world, choose our own path in life, go to college or join the work force, take fantastic risks, make mistakes and discover our true passions. Armed with knowledge, experience and the support of the Gonzaga Prep community, we are ready to face all the challenges ahead. When confronted with the question posed to our generation, Generation “Why?” our response must be a resolute “Why not?”
