Get out, get going

Banner day

The town of Fairfield south of Spokane Valley will once again celebrate Flag Day in style with a full schedule of activities today. Events begin at 7 a.m. with breakfast at the Community Center on Main Street and continue with a parade at 11 a.m.

The party in the newly renamed Thiel Park at Main and Highway 27 begins at 9 a.m. There will be crafts, food and more. The day ends with an adults-only dance from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. To reach Fairfield, head south from Spokane Valley on Highway 27.

Yard sale extravaganza

If history is any indication, parking spots in Liberty Lake today will be scarcer than snowmen in July. It's time for the huge, community-wide Liberty Lake Yard Sale. Bargain hunters will come from miles around to browse from yard to yard.

More than 250 locations will be participating from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In years past, some fairly high end items have been for sale. Check out www.libertylakeyardsale.org for a map of locations.

Music on aisle 11

Country Jammers will be performing at Tidyman's at Sprague and McDonald today to raise money for the Second Harvest Food Bank. They'll be pumping out the tunes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so head on down and make a donation. Stick around and listen for a while. But if you decide to cut loose and dance, watch out for those shopping carts.
