Devil Rays 9, Royals 5: At Kansas City, Mo., Casey Fossum pitched six strong innings, leading Tampa Bay past the Royals. Kansas City’s Reggie Sanders hit his 300th career home run. Sanders became the fifth player in major league history with 300 homers and 300 stolen bases. Barry Bonds, Willie Mays, Andre Dawson and Bobby Bonds are the others.

Athletics 5, Yankees 2: At New York, Frank Thomas hit a two-run homer, Kirk Saarloos combined with three relievers on a six-hitter and Oakland beat the Yankees.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 3: At Toronto, Brandon Inge and Marcus Thames homered to help Zach Minor earn his first major league win, and Detroit defeated the Blue Jays despite managing only three hits.

White Sox 4, Indians 3 (11): At Chicago, Tadahito Iguchi singled to score Pablo Ozuna with the winning run in the 11th inning, and the White Sox beat Cleveland.

Rangers 7, Red Sox 4: At Boston, Ian Kinsler had a tiebreaking two-run single in the seventh and reliever Bryan Corey earned his first major league win as Texas beat the Red Sox. The second game of the doubleheader was rained out.

Orioles 9, Twins 7: At Minneapolis, Miguel Tejada hit a two-run homer, Daniel Cabrera threw six shutout innings and Baltimore beat Minnesota.
