Missing boy found drowned

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

SELAH, Wash. – Four days after neighbors saw a 3-year-old boy go into an irrigation canal, his body has been recovered at the base of the Roza Canal power generating station. A doctor’s examination confirmed the cause of Andrew Camarillo’s death was drowning. Divers searched for less than 10 minutes Wednesday morning before confirming the recovery of the boy’s body from about 10 feet of water. His father arrived at the tragic scene minutes later.

The boy went into a canal behind his house on Sunday, possibly while looking for a dog. Officials said neighbors reported hearing a scream, then saw the boy submerge before they could reach him.
