Watch those elbows

Check out the Lilac City Roller Girls at a fundraiser today at Roller Valley, 9415 E. Fourth Ave.

There will be two minibouts and 1980s trivia games. The theme is a 1980s skate party, so dust off the big hairdos and clothes for an evening of 1980s music.

The event runs from 8 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $9 at the door.

Bike rodeo today

Now that the kids are roaming free for the summer, now might be a good time to brush up on the rules of the road for bicycle riders.

Liberty Lake SCOPE is hosting a bike rodeo today from 1 to 4 p.m. at Liberty Lake Elementary School, 23606 E. Boone Ave. The Liberty Lake Police Department will set up an obstacle course, and there will be a BMX bike demonstration.

Bike tuneups also will be offered, and a few bikes will be given away as prizes.

It's a great way to have fun and learn at the same time.

Children who need helmets will receive them if a parent is present. So pick one up to protect your precious one's noggin.

Oink, oink

You can't pass up a chance to meet Olivia the pig.

The porker will be the guest of honor at today's Summer Readers Club party at 3 p.m. at the Valley Hastings, 15312 E. Sprague Ave. The featured book is "Olivia Forms a Band" by Ian Falconer.

Kids also can learn to decorate and make musical instruments.
