Cellulite fright? Break out camouflage
Dear Harriette: A good friend insists on wearing short shorts because she thinks she has firm legs. She is definitely sturdy, but she does have a noticeable and unattractive layer of cellulite in her upper-leg area. I know people can’t walk around looking at themselves from behind, so I can’t expect her to know this. As her friend, I can’t let her walk around like that, but I don’t have the words. — Tiffany, Bronx, N.Y.
Tiffany: My personal trainer has often told me that most women, regardless of their level of fitness or body type, may develop cellulite. While she thinks we should embrace our bodies and accept them for what they are (even as we continue to work out), she strongly believes in showcasing the positives and camouflaging the works in progress.
Why not gracefully recommend that your friend consider wearing the latest trend, just-above-the-knee-length shorts? They cover much of the area in question and still look contemporary. You probably will have to tell her that her current shorts are showing more than she may want to reveal.
