Link offers news from Deer Park
If you live in Deer Park, we have a gift for you: Your own personal newspaper.
We are launching the Deer Park Dispatch, a novel cross between a newspaper and a community blog. It’s free, it’s online, and it’s powered by your comments.
Here’s how it works. Longtime Deer Park resident Shane Dell will put local news, commentary, your photos and interesting links on the Web site every day. But that’s just to get the ball rolling. Deer Park readers can post their own observations, respond to something Dell said, or respond to comments.
Our goal is to create a neighborhood meeting place, with the conversation fueled by the daily news and local tidbits gathered by Dell.
This week, for example, Shane reports that an ambulance mix-up delayed the response to a fatal chain saw accident at Horseshoe Lake. She also asks if it’s wise to spend money on new softball fields instead of aquatic facilities. And she wonders why the bowling alley has closed. Log on and tell the town what you think.
Also, if you have an idea for improvements, just let Dell know. We’re inventing this as we go along, and we want you to be part of the process.
