In brief
Q’emiln Park ramp open
The boat ramp at Q’emiln Park in Post Falls is open for the summer, weather permitting, as a result of Avista Corp. closing the spill gates at its hydroelectric project for normal summer operations.
Lake Coeur d’Alene is at its normal summer level. The energy company will attempt to maintain a level near 2,128 feet above sea level through Labor Day, the company said Friday.
Boaters should be aware that heavy rainfall may require opening the spill gates to avoid flooding. In that case, city regulations require that the boat ramp be closed until the spill gates are shut again. River users must keep away from the areas immediately above and below the dam, Avista said, and be aware that water levels and currents can change quickly.

Harrison, Idaho
Foul play not suspected
Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies said there was no sign of foul play in the death of a man whose body was found Friday in Lake Coeur d’Alene.
The body was found floating about 250 feet from shore, just north of the Harrison Marina, about 3 p.m. There was no apparent injury, deputies said.
No identification was found on the body – which was clothed in jeans, socks and a T-shirt – but investigators believed they had determined the man’s identity. They planned to withhold the name until it was confirmed by family members and an autopsy.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to call Detective Sgt. Brad Maskell at (208) 446-1300.
